This weekend resulted in mixed outcomes for the Latrobe Women’s Pennant Team. We were playing against Patterson River in the Friday team and Patterson River again on the Sunday. Again we had good support from Latrobe members who travelled to watch our teams play. Thanks again to our loyal supporters!
Friday at Green Acres was a magnificent golf day with the team knowing that Latrobe was currently second top of the ladder sharing 3 wins and 2 losses with 5 other teams. Patterson River was yet to win after coming up from Division 4.
At the turn the games were very close. Mitch finished with a 6/5, followed by Michelle Morgan with a 6/4 win. We were very happy to have those two in the bag. Prue then registered a lovely 3/2 win going up the 7th hole and playing very steady and sensible golf.
With one game left to win Sue Westwood had a very solid 2/1 win and Jacqui followed up with a fantastic 1 up on the 18th.
Latrobe is now top of the ladder sharing 4 wins and 1 loss with The Heritage and Riversdale.
Sunday again was a beautiful day although Yering was looking very dry with recent drainage works across a few of the holes and cracks appearing on many of the fairways.
Latrobe was currently 2 wins and one bye with Patterson River 2 wins and 1 loss. Yering’s greens weren’t holding and the course seemed to suit the Patterson River team well with some young guns who could go for the green on their second shot on par 4’s.
Ellen and Ann had good wins after battling close games, the other teams members struggled against the course and their opposition finishing with 2/5 against Patterson River.
Waverley looks like the team to beat with 4 wins currently as they have not had a bye and Latrobe, Patterson River and Gisborne all have 2 wins and 1 loss with all having had the bye.
Next week our Friday team plays Latrobe versus Spring Valley 1st Tee 8.45am at Riversdale and Sunday Waverley versus Latrobe 1st Tee 11.30am at Waverley.
