It happened at the end of 2012 when Shane McCarthy stepped aside before the final of div 3 pennant cause he thought Tommy Robson could prepare better. The result was a pennant for Latrobe and TRob winning after staying down the night before.
With relegation the confronting reality, Shane has again decided to step aside to allow young Matt Sellars to play again and have the experience of what standard is needed to help lead our club in pennant in the future.
It is selfless as his position in the side is deserved but he looks to the future betterment of our club.
